Norwegian Pension Fund

On January 9th, the world woke up to the news that every Norwegian, right down to the newest born, was worth $164,000 USD. This was because of the financial savvy of Norway. But that big thanks goes to the discovered of oil in the North Sea, off the coast of Norway. This oil money helped transform the Nordic country into the world's seventh biggest oil exporter and second largest natural gas exporter in the world. Norway made all this money and then tuck the surplus money away into a sovereign fund called Government Pension Fund. Thanks to astute investments  annual withdrawals from the fund are restricted to 4% of the fund's total asset value to a massive $828.66 billion.

  2. Thanks to astute investments oil prices are soaring.
  3. The people of Norway are not clamoring to get their hands on the wealth.
  4. The people are benefiting from it via an annual dividend distribution.
  5. This helped transform the Nordic country into the world's seventh biggest oil exporter.
  6. On January 9th, the world woke up to the news that every Norwegian was worth a million Kroner.
  7.  Thanks to the financial savvy of the country's government.
  8. But instead of squandering away the hefty taxes the government decided to tuck away the surplus wealth into a sovereign fund.
